Mcallen Kickboxing Lessons
Diets Don’t Work! KICKBOXING Does! call now 661-1212
Mcallen Center Stage has classes and curriculum that are designed specifically for adults. Our program is geared to take you from your current level of fitness and flexibility to a level that will empower you to accomplish all your goals.
First, you will quickly notice an improvement in your level of energy and mental focus. Difficult or tiresome tasks will become a breeze. The second result will be superior physical fitness, self-confidence, stress-relief, weight loss, and overall positive attitude about life. And most importantly, you’ll enjoy working out with motivated people that are positive and goal-oriented.
Our safe, and easy-to-follow style of instruction provides the best possible environment for you to become more physically fit; to develop both self-defense awareness and self-defense skill; to maintain a healthy, positive outlook… and to have a great time with other people who also enjoy these pursuits!
The Mcallen Kickboxing program is based on four components.
Physical Fitness
As I mentioned above, one of the benefits of our training is total fitness. This means, our classes are designed to help you lose weight, build muscle, and transform your entire body without the boredom typically associated with “working out”.
FACT: The workout that you enjoy doing most will be the one you stick with the easiest. And when you stick to something, naturally, you get results. But it doesn’t stop there…
Additionally, each class is designed to challenge your level of cardiovascular fitness and raise your level of cardiopulmonary conditioning to the point where other people in your age bracket will wonder how you do it! Remember all the energy you had as a youngster? Well, with this class… you’ll have it back! You’ll feel less tired; you’ll get better sleep; and even “reset” your biological clock.
Safety
After 30 years of teaching and training in traditional martial arts, We discovered that the “traditional systems’ he had learned just weren’t ideal for adults… or physical conditioning. Meaning: There was too much unnecessary contact (specially in the early stages of training)… too much memorization… and simply too much potential for injury and not enough emphasis on fitness. “Mastery Kickboxing” is the answer to many of the problems inherent in the so-called “traditional martial arts systems.” To succeed in Mastery Kickboxing – and achieve the body you’ve dreamed of – you need not be a physical genius, nor must you have a ‘natural talent’ for martial arts.
Fun, Fun, Fun
There are lots of different ways to get in shape and learn self-defense such as gyms and martial arts schools. However, again, the program you will do the longest and benefit from the most will be the one you enjoy and see results from. And even though the moves you learn will be “fundamentals” we purposely “disguise” the repetitive elements… this way your skills become familiar to you… but never boring. And unlike many other martial arts based programs, there is NEVER any negativity, sarcasm, or indifference in our classes. You will feel focused and stress-free…on a quest to be your very best, while helping others (your training partners) achieve their goals as well.
Lifestyle
This is where you begin to appreciate the attitude skills of the martial arts if you will: self-control, self- confidence, positive thinking, communication skills, perseverance, and mental toughness, courage and the ability to set and reach powerful personal goals.
As our program helps you learn these life skills, you will find yourself:
* Improving your ability to get along with other people
* Staying focused and motivated
* Able to move outside your “comfort Zone,” into the “achievement zone.”
And, what makes it work, what holds all these components together, is just it’s so much fun. Our instructors are the most patient, motivating, and knowledgeable people you can find anywhere in the martial arts! And… because our teaching style is based on respect and courtesy… you’ll never experience any of the nonsense commonly found in gyms or traditional martial arts schools that offer “copy-cat” versions of the real and official Mcallen Kickboxing program. 661-1212

Looking for dance lessons in Mcallen?
Have you ever watched a little toddler moving to the music? It seems from the time we are able to walk we react to music. The sounds seem to effect each one of us differently and we all move in our own special way to the sounds of music. It doesn’t matter whether it’s the Swing, Waltz, Bop, etc., We love moving to music. The dance represents the young and the old. Each era seems to have its own special type of music and dance. Generation after generation you hear the same thing…”Don’t know how those kids can listen to that racket”! Music never seems as good as the music of our own generation. The dance seems to change as quickly as the music and the love of dance continues. Dancing to music is as old as time. Dance is used to communicate, to celebrate, to unite and simply enjoy! Dancing to music was incorporated into our work out routines to help tone our bodies. Think of a celebration of joy and you think of dancing with joy. It doesn’t matter if you dance good or bad, only that you dance. Feeling sad, put on your favorite tune and begin to move to the music in dance and you soon forget why you were sad or angry. Feeling lethargic, put on the music and dance and feel revitalized. Romance is in the air, put on the music and sway to a slow song with your romantic man or woman of the moment and let the dance ignite that romance. Dance is a language known world wide to all of us with no need of translation. Dance is the universal language that can span the gaps of nations to help unite, even if for only one dance. Let us hope that the importance of dance will always remain with us to help bridge the gaps of generations and to continue the growth of new generations. May we always be moved to dance at the sound of music, even if it’s just a movement of the shoulders. Dance relieves us of tension and everyday pressures by its ability to let us be “Us”! Dance is a healer or our spirits. There is no right or wrong move in dance when dancing for your own personal enjoyment. The only rule in dance is to enjoy the dance and make it your dance. Even the pleasure we get from watching others dance is so great that you forget yourself for a time and imagine yourself doing those same dance moves. Dancing with the Stars is a great hit! Why, when most of us will never be able to dance with the grace and talent of these dancers? The show is a hit because of the joy that comes from seeing the dance performed with such skill and even imagining yourself doing those same moves. Dance is like a music that we need to express ourselves to others when there are no words that can be found to do it for us. Let us hope the Dance will continue for generations to come!

Piano Lessons in Mcallen Texas

A Professional Piano Teacher in Mcallen Gives Advice on How to Decide If Your Child is Ready for Piano Lessons
As a Professional Piano Teacher, parents often ask me what age is the best age to begin piano lessons. Since all children have different skills and abilities, the perfect age to begin private piano lessons depends on
There are three categories to consider when determining if your child is ready for piano lessons: academic skills, emotional maturity, and natural musical abilities.
What many parents don’t understand is how complicated reading music can be. Piano students not only need to know the alphabet from A to G, but they also need to know those seven letters in reverse – G, F, E, D, C, B, A.
For example, the song “Mary Had a Little Lamb” begins with the notes E, D, C. In order for a student to play that song, they must know the alphabet in reverse order from E to C. If your child hasn’t mastered the alphabet forwards, doing the alphabet in reverse can be very confusing.
Addition and subtraction are important skills used in music. Music is divided into small sections called measures. Each measure has the same number of beats. Students must first memorize the number of beats each type of note gets (a quarter note is worth one beat, a dotted half note is worth three beats.) Then the student needs to make sure each measure has the correct number of beats by adding the different note values together. If your child cannot do simple math such as 1 + 3 = 4, or 4 – 2 = 2, then they may have difficulty when it comes to counting.
Most piano teachers will have the child’s assignment written down in an assignment book. If your child cannot read, it will be your responsibility to sit with the child during their daily practice sessions. It is important to make sure your child is following all of the instructions correctly. If you are not willing, or able, to devote that much time for piano lessons, you should wait until your child is old enough to read the assignment notes and practice on their own.

ballet Lessons in Mcallen Texas
When choosing a particular studio or method of learning to dance you must first answer the following basic questions. Your answers will determine the keys needed to evaluate a studio, and whether it is a fit for you.
What is the most important element in your dancing?
This question is the most important one. If your answer is to learn to dance for FUN, pure enjoyment — stay with the inexpensive ways of learning to dance.
However, if your answer to this question involves elements of learning to be the best, learning the proper technique, learning to dance for enjoyment but to also be “better than the average bear”, or possibly competing — your best decision would be to choose a studio in which you felt the particular element was being addressed.
What is the monthly or yearly total you are willing to spend?
Before making any decisions as to which studio, you must decide for yourself what your yearly or monthly budget can afford. Do your budget numbers before you look for a studio — this will be one less hassle if you know upfront what you can afford. As well, it will help you to be wise and not get straddled with a payment that is uncomfortable.
Why do you dance?
Ensure that you understand why you enjoy dancing or at least why you want to dance. Only you know the true reason — but as long as you know — this will help you in deciding where to attend.
For example, some people dance because it gives them a “workout” time with their spouse, some dance because they love to move to music, some dance because they gain self-confidence from learning motor activities, others dance to meet people, etc. These are just a few reasons — determine yours.
Do you need or want the social benefits of belonging to a particular studio?
Belonging to a particular studio, is just like having a membership at the Glenco or the Winter Club. It’s a place you belong to — it meets your social needs and gives you the benefits you’re looking for. Is this something that you believe you want in your life? Do you like having a membership? Ensure you know the answer.
NOW, ARMED WITH YOUR ANSWERS TO THESE QUESTIONS here are some criteria to help you choose the studio that will meet your dancing needs:
1. What is the philosophy of the studio and its owners?
Check out what the basic philosophy of the studio is. Is the number one goal to teach people to dance? Is it to teach people to dance technically correct? Is it to teach people to enjoy dancing and do it correctly? Is it to make the studio owners look good at a competition with students who do well? Is it to support the competing professionals in the studio and ensure they are advancing? Is it run as a profitable business? Is it a combination of the above? All you have to do is ASK — and then LISTEN to the answer.
LISTEN to hear the answer and then compare the philosophy that is stated with the way the business is operated and with the answer you have to your question of what is the most important element in your dancing. Ensure that somewhere in the philosophy of the studio you find the element you determined was important for you.
2. What services are available?
What various kinds of lessons are available — privates, groups, practice sessions, 10 week specialized courses, coaching lessons, floor time for individual practice? What other services are provided — information on shoes, competitive dresses; information on dance organizations in town; outside functions, social dances, etc.
What special activities is the studio planning to participate in? Does the studio regularly attend competitions?
AGAIN, see how the answer to this question matches up with your reasons for dancing and the social aspects you are looking to fulfill in your life.
3. What level of training/accomplishment have the owners and teachers attained?
This is a critical question whether or not you would like to compete. Ensure that the individuals who are teaching you have qualifications that will improve your dancing competitive edge.
Ask for a history on the training of the instructors, ask about their own personal accomplishments in dancing. A key here is that the ability to TEACH another individual is not inherent in a GOOD DANCER. The top competing couples are not all equal when it comes to teaching others. Winning competitions does not make you a better dance trainer than someone who is skilled at TRAINING AND TEACHING skills to others.
Ask for some information on the method of teaching that is used in the studio. Ask for the policy they adhere to with respect to outside coaches — especially check into the charge for these lessons. Careful that when you are quoted a price for an outside coach that you also know whether that is in addition to a charge for a private lesson or not. This makes a difference to the dollar amount you will be budgeting for. Ask for information regarding whether or not staff participate in coaching sessions for their own improvement.
If competing is a prime objective of your dancing — check out the ability of the studio to offer choreography. Especially critical to a well-performed routine is often the movements and the transition between steps. Not all individuals are equally trained or have the creative ability to offer GOOD choreography.
Calgary is blessed with some exceptional TEACHERS and a few GOOD choreographers. To find the two elements in one individual is rare, but in my opinion, they can be found even here in our own city.
4. What is the atmosphere/environment of the studio?
Is the physical setting of the studio pleasing to you? Does it make you feel like dancing? Does it relax you, calm you and yet entice your feet to move?
Sit back and enjoy the setting of the studio, look around at the surroundings and observe the “atmosphere” of the studio. Ensure you feel good when you’re there.
Do the owners/teachers make you feel comfortable and welcome on a consistent basis? Are students treated equally — fairly? Is everyone, no matter what size, or shape, or age, or colour treated equally by all the management? Check it out — it matters in the long run.
Another issue, do the owners encourage a good attitude towards all other studios? Do they support the dance community as a whole?
The choice of any individual to attend other classes or participate in other functions should not mean that the individual should be treated any differently than anyone else. People are still people — no matter where they work or where they choose to take their dance training. Courteous treatment of all people, acknowledgment that you know someone, saying “hello” is not a form of treason or disloyalty to your own studio — it’s COMMON PEOPLE COURTESY. What is the attitude of the studio you attend?
5. What is the student body’s opinion/feelings about the studio?
Are people happy with the service they’ve received from the studio? Did they receive what was promised to them? Are they happy with how they are treated? Do they believe they are getting their money’s worth?
Is there an undue pressure applied to students — does everyone have to compete to be “special” in the school? Is there always a push for students to spend more money? These pressures can make it uncomfortable.
The saying — You can’t please all the people all the time — IS VERY TRUE. If a student has a complaint, they must address it with management, as long as management is willing to LISTEN and attempts to either address the issue or explain to the student why the policy exists. If you have a complaint, ensure that you give the owners a fair chance and before you discuss the complaint with others — let them know and see if they can address the issue for you. This will give you two successes — one, is that you have taken the issue up with someone who can effect a change and second, if any other student in the studio is having the same feelings perhaps the owners can help them too.
Most importantly, however, is that students feel welcome in the studio, that they feel as if they are a part of the studio and that they can contribute positively to the experience of others who choose to participate in the studio.
6. Fees for Services
The last question that must be answered is what are the fees. How much will it cost me to do the amount of dancing I’d like to do in the month or year?
All you have to do is ask … studio owners will give you this information. Ensure that prices are they same for everyone. Are there any special deals? Be careful if the pricing information varies from student to student — ask for the criteria that is used. What determines special circumstances? Specifically, ensure that you completely understand exactly which lessons are included in the prices that are quoted.
The above six questions are simple — but you need to get an answer for yourself. Don’t ever decide on which studio to attend based on someone else’s criteria — know what you want and then GO SHOPPING. The best advice I can give you is ensure that you are aware of what is important to you, exactly what it is that you are looking for, and then go and find it. Try them all out until you find a place where you are happy and your needs are being met. Never forget that you, the student, are the CUSTOMER — you have the right to choose.
Personally, dancing is an enjoyment — it relaxes me and allows me to disappear from the stresses of everyday life for a few hours to a place of serenity and joy. For me, a studio should be a place that provides me the opportunity to learn, to improve my dancing, and to meet new friends in life — all of this and I can have FUN, too!

The benefits of music and voice lessons in mcallen When people of all ages take music and voice lessons, they learn much more than just how to perform! There are many other benefits of learning music. Family Parents find that music and voice lessons for kids not only improve their children’s memorization and small motor skills, but strongly contribute to the building of their child’s self-confidence. This in turn helps children succeed not only in music, but in school and other outside activities. Both children and their parents find it truly rewarding when a child reaches a pre-set goal or milestone; whether that is learning a new song, performing in front of others or just finding enjoyment in music. How to Promote Musical Development in Kindergarten Students
March 21, 2010
How to Promote Musical
Development in Kindergarten
Students
The best way to promote musical development in kindergarten students is to make it an intricate part of their early childhood education. This can be accomplished by exposing young children to a variety of musical experiences such as singing songs, movement through dance, and listening to a wide range of musical styles. Children who are exposed to music at an early age are more prepared to communicate with people and the world around them. Music also plays an important role in the kindergarten students language development by improving their listening skills and vocabulary. As with all developmental goals, each kindergarten student will move through the stages of musical development at their own pace.
-
Step 1
Sing a song. One of the easiest ways to promote musical development is to sing. You will find many opportunities in your day to day life to sing with your child such as riding in the car, doing household chores or taking a long walk. Adding finger plays to the songs can add a greater meaning and understanding of the lyrics for the kindergarten student.
-
Step 2
Play an instrument. Exploring sounds with instruments is an important part of every musical curriculum. Kindergarten teachers, as well as parents can expose children to instruments from the brass, wind, string and percussion families, or you can allow the child to create his own by humming through a paper towel tube, drumming on a pot or plucking rubber bands over an open tissue box.
-
Step 3
Listen to music. All children enjoy listening to and singing along with the radio, compact discs and videos. Kindergarten students have the ability to actively listen and focus on what they have heard. This allows the child to grasp musical concepts such as volume, tempo and pitch.
-
Step 4
Create music. Every kindergarten student has within them the capacity to create music. By introducing the child to musical notes you are teaching him that music can be written down to create a song. By learning the elements of music and how to write notes down on paper, the kindergarten student will learn how people share their music with others.
-
Step 5
Discover musical elements. Between the ages of 4 through 6 years old, children begin to show an increase in rhythmic ability. This is the time to begin exposing them to musical elements such as tempo, volume, pitch, and rhythm. Kindergarten teachers and parents can talk to the child about sounds that you hear over and over again in your daily life. By asking the child if the sounds they hear are loud or soft, slow or fast, or high or low, you are promoting musical development in the kindergarten student.

National Champions Stallion All-Stars
March 21, 2010
On the Tuesday before the competition, over 450 teams were sent a schedule for the upcoming Cheer Power National competition that was to be held at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The Stallion All Stars Dominators Junior Level 2 team & the Stallion All Stars Beasts Senior Co-Ed Level 4 team would compete against some great teams from across the Southern part of the country. On Wednesday night, just like months prior to the competition, the Stallions focused and had a great practice. Parents got together and made signs, noise makers, decorated their cars, and stocked up on Stallion Attire. On Friday & Saturday, teams drove to San Antonio and got ready to “Bring it On”.
The Junior Dominators, who are comprised of 4th-9th grade students, were up first at the prestigious event. At the end of the competition season, 8 teams were battling for the coveted Cheer Power Junior Level 2 National Championship title. The Stallions went through the first day of warm ups very smooth but nerves hit just a few minutes before hitting the main floor. Well when they hit that main floor, all nerves went out the window. The Stallion Dominators tumbled beautifully, stunted great, jumped high and wowed everyone with their dance.
Everyone came off the floor excited with their performance, but there were other teams with the same goal, and this is where the waiting game begins. After a couple of hours, preliminary scores were up and there it was as bright as day, the Stallion team was leading the race by over 15 points and at the time was leading all Level 2 teams from both Small & Large gyms. Joy spread throughout the Stallion camp, but they knew it was far from over. Day 1 of competition only counts 25% while Day 2 counts 75%. When the second day began, everyone knew just how close they were to coming home as National Champions. The practice on the warm up floor was descent, but not flawless. Oh boy, but the team turned up the Dominating factor once they hit that floor. They put on the best performance of the season (up to date) and they had fun in the process. “I just kept yelling they’re doing it, they’re doing it throughout the whole routine.” said Director Ileana Martinez. Although they went out there and did great so did the other teams that competed against them. The awards came on, and they began to announce the Finalists teams, then they got to 5th place, 4th place, 3rd place and still no Stallion Dominators called. It was Louisiana and Texas left in the Top 2. And the announcer went on and said in 2nd place from Louisiana, yup yup yup – Stallion All Stars Dominators from Mission Texas are the National Champions. Plus the team ended up scoring the highest score of the day in Level 2 on the second day of competition and were awarded the BEST CHOREOGRAPHY award. For this Victory, the Stallion All Stars were awarded a Team Trophy, Team Banner, Team Plaque plus each team member was awarded a gold medallion and a leather letterman jacket. So when it was all said and done the team brought home the highest score from any previous Stallion team in the past 9 seasons. Congratulations. Go Stallions!!!
The Stallion All Stars Beasts, who are comprised of 5th – 12th graders, were attending their 2nd competition of the season. During the last 2 weeks of competition, the team revamped their routine and worked non-stop to ensure a great performance at the National. But no one from the Rio Grande Valley had ever brought home any kind of Level 4 National title. Before hitting the warm-up floors, the team was anxious and on their own were going over the routine a bunch of times. Coaches had to constantly remind them to relax. When they got to the warm up floors, some of the stunts weren’t hitting as smooth as they should. But this team had a bond, and had become great friends, and when it came down to it, their best was about to come out. On the main floor, all their stunts stuck, however some timing was off, but when the dance section hit, the 10 girls and 6 boys turned up the Beastly Heat. After going back and checking the scores, the team was in 2nd place. The well known Champions team from San Antonio were up by 4 points after the first night of competition. The team could of easily folded but came out swinging on the second day. But so did the other team. Stallions had great moments, but so did they – they made mistakes, but so did we. But how awesome would this win be for the 3 seniors on the team, the Stallion twins that had been members since 4th grade, the young loyal beastly 4 year – 6 year members, the beastly ones that had returned to Stallions after a few years of absence, the 2 Football players who learned so much & made every practice interesting, the one who inspired the team that even with metal plates in his arm did everything and then some day in and day out, and who could leave out 1st year member who said he has never won anything in his whole life. As they began doing the younger teams in Level 4, the team started preparing themselves. Some stood up confident, while others covered their ears, closed their eyes, hugged each other or just stood still. When they said in 2nd place, you couldn’t hear a pin drop, but when they said from San Antonio, Excitement, Disbelief, Joy, Shock, Pride, Screams, Jumps, and so much more took over. There you go Diego – you can’t say you never won anything. You along with your Stallion teammates are the first ever Rio Grande Valley team to bring home a LEVEL 4 NATIONAL TITLE!!! For this Victory, the Stallion All Stars were awarded a Team Trophy, Team Banner, Team Plaque plus each team member was awarded a gold medallion and a leather letterman jacket. We are Stallions!!!
Great Job to the Athletes, Parents, Coaches, Family & Friends for a great season thus far. Way to represent the Rio Grande Valley. Come join the fun – If you are interested in joining the Stallion All Star Family or if you are interested in Beginner classes, call 956-580-4800 for more information.

Dancing Boosts Self Esteem
-

- Research shows dancing boosts a child’s self esteem. Dancing makes children feel good and helps them gain confidence in their own abilities.
- Children have a short attention span, which is why it’s best to limit dance class time to less than an hour.
- Dancing requires memorization. Children improve their overall memory when trying to remember steps.
- Dancing teaches children how to listen, whether it be instruction or for the beat. When children are listening, they are not talking.
- Dancing shows children how to interact with their peers in a positive manner. Dancing at a young age is non-competitive.

Importance of Gymnastics for a Childs developement
January 28, 2010
Importance of Gymnastics for a Childs developement
Gymnastics has been around for many years. It continues to be a much loved event at the Summer Olympics, televised worldwide for millions of viewers. Locally, gymnastics has also been a favorite. There are many gymnastics facilities throughout the country that provide gym classes for children and young adults. Whether it is a beginner class or competition training, gymnastics is a great activity to get involved in. Starting at a young age, gymnastics will positively affect a child’s growth and development.
Gymnastics helps children stay active and fit. Society is becoming more and more focused on television and computers but it is extremely important to keep our kids healthy and in shape. Life Long habits develop at a young age. If we involve our kids in moving around and exercising, they will carry this concept with them throughout life. Some of the many health benefits that a child can get from participating in gym classes are…
- Development of bone density
- Increase in muscle growth
- Lowered blood pressure and cholesterol
- Increased flexibility, coordination, and strength
Kids gym classes also add structure and discipline to a child’s routine. It is important to have this sense of control and order so that children know their boundaries. Kids start out thinking the sky is the limit. Although this concept can be good in some respects it also needs to be limited in others. Gymnastics helps kids learn right from wrong. They learn how to respectively present themselves and how that will advantage them as they grow and develop. A few of these structure and discipline benefits are…
- Learn to set and reach goals
- Develop a hard work ethic
- Continue to challenge themselves
- Become responsible for their actions
- Gain a sense of independence
Another learning experience from gymnastics is the social growth and development. Again, sitting at home consuming themselves with TV and the internet leaves little room for kids to interact with one another. Even though society has become very technical with the development of email, text, and Instant Message, it is still very important to have face to face time with others. Gym classes benefits children socially by…
- Providing a means to meet new friends
- Increasing their self esteem around peers
- Allowing them to feel safe performing for people
- Creating a teambuilding environment
As you can see, gymnastics is more than an activity we watch during the Summer Olympics. It is an excellent way for children to grow physically, mentally, and socially!
If you live in south texas, Stallion All-Stars is the perfect place for your child to get involved in gymnastics. We offer classes, summer camps, and much more for kids of all ages. Discover the fun and excitement at Stallion All-Stars!
